The Artist

About

In the 90s, Christoph Hegemann lived and worked in New York City, in Brussels and on Ibiza Island.

On a construction site on Ibiza Island, shortly before closing time, he observed a bricklayer pouring a load of leftover mortar through the window into a pile of sand and rubbish.

A few days later, he took the hardened lump of mortar out of the pile, turned it over and saw a morbid, mask-like structure. Christoph was excited.

He has been making sculptures and drawings ever since: First he creates a lost form with sand, earth and other materials and then fills it with liquid concrete. Coincidence is always a loyal companion to him in all of these work steps.

Several exhibitions have taken place between 1992 and today. On this website he would like to show you an overview of his selected work.
